Nova Tools is back in the US market after parent company Teknatool USA emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Woodworking lathes, the Voyager drill press, and accessories had vanished from major online retailers in 2025. As of late July 2026, the full Nova lineup is back in stock, sold direct from the brand while distributor channels rebuild.
The bankruptcy took the brand’s most popular products off shelves at Amazon, Woodcraft, and Rockler almost overnight. Woodworkers who relied on Nova chucks and compact turning equipment suddenly had to look at alternatives.
What Happened
Teknatool USA, the American arm of New Zealand-based Teknatool, filed Chapter 11 in 2025 amid financial pressure.
The Voyager drill press, Nova’s compact benchtop press aimed at pen turners and small-shop woodworkers, disappeared alongside the Saturn and Titan lathe lines and the G3 Nova chuck system.
Online listings went blank. Affiliate links broke. Long-time fans of the brand started wondering whether Nova was gone for good.
Per the July 28 announcement, Teknatool USA “successfully completed the restructuring process” and has restarted direct sales through the official Nova website. Teknatool says more product launches are coming in 2026, though specific models have not been named yet.
The Nova brand itself was unaffected by the bankruptcy in terms of engineering. Nova continues to be made in the same factory and supported by the same team in New Zealand. Only the US distribution arm reorganized.

The Voyager drill press in particular had been the go-to choice for hobbyists who needed a small, accurate press for pen blanks and small turnings. It had been out of stock at every major retailer for the better part of a year.
What This Means for Buyers
The Voyager drill press and Saturn lathes were widely recommended before the bankruptcy, and many DIY woodworkers had been waiting for them to return.
Direct-from-brand sales mean you can order again, but pricing is set without retail competition. ToolGuyd notes that third-party retailer distribution has not yet been confirmed, so woodworkers who previously bought through Woodcraft or Rockler may need to order direct.
If you have been holding off on a Nova chuck or lathe upgrade waiting for the brand to reappear, this is your signal. Nova’s G3 chuck in particular has been hard to find in stock for over a year.
Watch the Nova website for new product announcements through the rest of 2026. Teknatool hinted at “more innovations” coming, which likely means updates to the lathe lineup and possibly new accessories.
For DIYers and small-shop woodworkers who already own Nova equipment, the news is straightforward. Service, parts, and accessories should now flow normally again. No recall or safety issue prompted the bankruptcy, so existing tools are unaffected.
