If you’ve ever wanted a workbench that actually fits your space — not a generic 48-inch box from the hardware store — Ryobi has a new answer. The FRAMEWORK Customizable Workbench Kit (STM420K) lets you build a bench to your exact dimensions using standard dimensional lumber. It’s arriving at Home Depot in June 2026 for around $100.
What’s in the Kit
The STM420K is an all-in-one frame system. You supply the lumber; Ryobi supplies everything else:
- 4 heavy-duty legs with self-aligning pre-drilled screw guides
- 4 adjustable shelf brackets with 12 height positions
- LINK accessory rail and organizer bin
- All mounting hardware and driver bits
The legs have mounting points for 3/8″ or M10 casters or leveling feet, sold separately. Built correctly, the frame supports up to 1,000 lbs at a standard 35″ work height.
Size Options
This is where the FRAMEWORK system earns its name. The same kit can be built into:
- A standard 2×4-foot workbench
- An extended 8-foot bench
- A full 4×8-foot workstation
All you need are 2×4s and a sheet of plywood for the top — materials that run $30–60 depending on local prices. Total shop cost: roughly $130–160 for a solid, custom-sized bench. That’s well under what comparable purpose-built steel benches cost.
Where It Fits in the Ryobi Ecosystem
The FRAMEWORK kit ties into Ryobi’s broader LINK storage ecosystem — the same modular rail system used on their cabinets, wall panels, and tool holders. The included LINK rail means you can bolt accessories directly to the bench without drilling new holes.
For anyone building out a Ryobi 18V ONE+ shop, the workbench is a natural anchor point. Ryobi already makes bench-top drill presses, band saws, and oscillating spindle sanders — tools that need a real surface underneath them. A 1,000-lb-rated bench at $100 makes more sense than a foldout table.
