The Milwaukee PACKOUT Wire-Pulling XL Crate (48-22-8043) is now live at Home Depot for $119.97. This is the last of the five new Packout crates Milwaukee announced back in February, and it’s the one electricians actually asked for: a dedicated, mobile organizer for wire spools that locks into the existing Packout stack.

Two matching accessories land at the same time. The Wire Pulling Inserts (48-22-8044, $49.97) are required if you want the crate to function as a wire organizer with pull-through slots. The XL Crate Divider ($29.97) splits the interior into two sections if you’d rather use the crate for mixed tool storage instead of spools.

What the crate does

The crate holds up to six 500-foot spools of 12-gauge THHN wire in dedicated retention slots on the front face. Wire feeds out without tangling, and the wide front opening lets you pull while the crate stays stacked on a Packout rolling box or set flat on the floor. The retention slots keep individual wires separated so you’re not unspooling a knot when you need to move quickly on a rough-in job.

Why this fills a real gap

Electricians running structured wiring or rough-in work have been managing wire spools in cardboard boxes, milk crates, or purpose-built reel stands for decades. None of those solutions integrate with a modular tool storage system. The wire ends up on the floor, or in a separate cart, or you’re kicking a box around the slab all day. The Wire-Pulling XL Crate puts the spools at the same level as your drill, your pliers, and your bit organizer, in one stack you can move with a hand truck.

No other major modular storage system (DeWalt TSTAK, Ridgid, Bosch L-BOXX) has a comparable purpose-built wire spool organizer. That’s a narrow use case, but if it fits your work, there’s nothing else like it in the ecosystem.

Where this fits in the Packout expansion

Milwaukee announced this crate in February alongside four others. The Compact, Low-Profile, and XL crates landed in April, with the XL Crate Divider following. The Wire-Pulling XL Crate is the July piece, the most specialized of the five and the one Milwaukee specifically called out for tradespeople, not just general contractors.

If you’re not running wire, the standard XL Crate (48-22-8439) at around $60 is the better buy. You only need the Wire-Pulling model if the spool-retention inserts are useful to you.

Where to buy

Milwaukee is a Home Depot exclusive in the U.S., so this won’t appear on Amazon. The Wire-Pulling XL Crate (48-22-8043) and both accessories are available at homedepot.com and should be rolling into stores through July. If your local store doesn’t have it in stock yet, the online listing shows available for ship-to-store.
