DeWalt just added a real HVAC tool to its 20V MAX XR system. The new DCE510 cordless vacuum pump pulls 5 CFM and runs up to 60 minutes on the 8Ah POWERPACK battery, putting the brand on a short list of cordless options for residential and light-commercial refrigerant service. Ohio Power Tool broke the news on June 22, 2026.

Vacuum pumps have been one of the last stubborn corded items on HVAC service trucks. Pulling a system down to the right micron level takes a long runtime, and cordless units have historically come up short on either flow or battery life. The DCE510 is DeWalt’s answer: 5 CFM flow that the brand says “performs as fast as competitive corded 5 CFM vacuum pump units,” paired with a 60-minute runtime on the DCB2108 8Ah pack.

Why the A2L Rating Matters

The DCE510 is rated for A2L refrigerants, which covers the new low-GWP replacements sweeping residential and commercial HVAC in 2026 and beyond (R-454B, R-32, R-1234yf). A2L refrigerants are mildly flammable, so vacuum pumps used on those systems need to keep the oil path clean and prevent backflow into the refrigerant line. The integrated check valve on the DCE510 is the spec that does the heavy lifting there: it blocks pump oil from migrating into the system during battery swaps, which is the exact moment you’d lose vacuum on a lesser pump.

For techs working on rooftops, in tight mechanical rooms, or on service calls where dragging a cord isn’t realistic, the cordless angle is real. The gas ballast valve is the other spec worth noting, since it lets you purge moisture out of the pump oil at startup, which extends oil life and keeps the micron level honest on a deep pull-down.

How It Fits the DeWalt XR Lineup

DeWalt has been steadily filling the 20V MAX XR platform with specialty tools aimed at trades outside the traditional drill-and-impact crowd. The ATOMIC Extended Die Grinder (DCG420XB) targets metalworkers and automotive techs. The DCE510 targets HVAC. Same platform, same battery, a real pro tool for a real pro trade.

For comparison, Milwaukee and Makita have not announced a direct 5 CFM cordless vacuum pump in the same class. Field Piece and JB Industries still dominate the HVAC vacuum pump category, but those are corded. The DCE510 is the first major cordless entry from a battery platform brand aimed squarely at the refrigerant service market.

When and Where to Buy

The DCE510 is rolling out now through DeWalt distributors and pro dealers. Ohio Power Tool is the only retailer that has listed the product page so far (model DW-DCE510WW1), with the 8Ah POWERPACK battery included. DeWalt has not published MSRP at the time of this writing, and the unit is not yet on Amazon. For techs with an existing 20V MAX XR battery fleet, pricing on the bare-tool version is the one to watch.
