Home Depot and Lowe’s flipped their stores over to holiday mode this weekend, and the Black Friday tool pricing is already live. ToolGuyd’s Stuart Deutsch confirmed the reset on Nov 1 after walking both chains. Most of what is in the holiday tool centers right now will not get cheaper on Nov 27.
That last part matters more than the deals themselves. If you are waiting for Black Friday to buy a drill, a battery kit, or a tool box, you are probably waiting for a price that is already on the shelf.
What is live right now
Home Depot started the season Oct 26 with online-only special buys and the first tier of the Packout buy-more-save-more promotion. Store displays followed this weekend.
DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Ridgid, and Makita all have free-tool bundles attached to qualifying starter kits and combo kits.
- DeWalt 20V XR oscillating multi-tool kit (DCS359E1): $299 at Amazon, tool plus charger plus 4Ah battery. Home Depot has a similar kit at $99 that bundles the older 20V Max XR model with a charger and 4Ah pack.
- 5.0Ah battery 2-pack (DCB205): $129.50 at Amazon, down from roughly $200 list. Multi-packs are consistently the deepest discount of the season.
- DCF860B high-torque impact driver: $117.30 at Amazon. This one has been moving around all fall, so verify at checkout.
- Fanttik B11 Pro Max air duster: $75.99, down from $99.99. One of the few Amazon-native garage brands with a real seasonal cut.
- 2-pack tape measures: $20 at Home Depot. ToolGuyd noted these sold at $16.40 each last year after a coupon, so the 2-pack is the better per-unit price.
Prices checked Nov 2 against the Amazon catalog and reported retailer pricing. Prices change without notice.
Why this matters
Holiday tool deals at the big-box chains break into two types. There are special-buy discounts on individual tools, and there are free-tool bundles attached to a qualifying kit purchase.
The bundles are where the real savings sit. They let you build a kit around a tool you actually want, instead of buying a combo kit with two tools you will never touch.
Deutsch’s read is that the 2026 season looks close to a repeat of last year, maybe 90% the same deals. That is a useful signal. If you passed on something last November and still want it, the price is likely back.
How to shop it
Walk the store once if you can. Photos of the shelf tags beat memory.
It also lets you compare the five or six tape measure bundles against each other before you buy the first one you see.
For anything over $20, go home and check the price online before you commit. Some deals are online-only and some are in-store-only, and the two do not always match.
The free-tool bundles do sell out. Deutsch’s advice is not to sit on a January end date and assume the tool will still be there in January.
Popular bundles get bought up by resellers who break them apart for Amazon and Walmart listings, so restock is not guaranteed.
