Home Depot’s Tool Gift Center is running free-tool offers on Ryobi kits, and the best of them is a battery starter kit at $99 that comes with a reciprocating saw or an angle grinder at no extra charge.

Prices below are from BobVila’s Oct. 26 roundup of the Tool Gift Center.

The free-tool offers

  • Battery Starter Kit, ONE+, with a free Recip Saw: $99 (was $188)
  • Battery Starter Kit, ONE+, with a free Angle Grinder: $99 (was $158.97)

Each offer gets you batteries and a charger plus a bare tool. For someone with no Ryobi tools yet, that is the cheapest way into the ONE+ platform this season.

Other Ryobi deals worth a look

The rest of the Tool Gift Center is straight discounting, not free-tool bundling. BobVila lists Ryobi items marked down up to 61%, with small accessories starting around $4.97.

  • 18V ONE+ 6-Tool Combo Kit: $199 (was $299). This is the PCL1600K2, with a drill, impact driver, circular saw, recip saw, multi-tool, and light, plus two batteries and a charger.
  • High-Torque ONE+ Impact Wrench Kit: $149 (was $269), with a 1/2-inch drive and a 4Ah battery.
  • Drill and Impact Driver Kit, ONE+: $99 (was $149).
  • HP One-Handed Recip Saw, ONE+: $99 (was $119).
  • 2Ah ONE+ Battery: $49.97 (was $89).

Why this matters

Ryobi’s 18V ONE+ platform is the widest in the business. Ryobi says every ONE+ 18V battery works with more than 300 tools, so a $99 battery kit today is a cheap entry point to a platform you will not outgrow.

The free tool is what makes it worth doing. Batteries alone are a utility purchase. Add a recip saw or grinder for the same $99 and you have moved forward on your tool set rather than just restocking it.

Milwaukee’s side of the same event pairs its free tool with a $199 battery 2-pack. Ryobi’s entry price is half of that, which tells you who each offer is aimed at.

How to shop it

Pick the free tool based on what you actually lack. Cut lumber and pipe? The recip saw earns its keep. Grind metal or shape concrete? The grinder does more for you.

Already own Ryobi batteries? Skip the starter kits and look at the bare-tool discounts instead. Paying for another battery set you do not need undoes the value of the free tool.

The PCL1600K2 six-tool kit at $199 is the same price it hit in our June coverage of this kit.

What to watch

The holiday event is moving fast, and inventory on the free-tool SKUs will thin out before Black Friday itself. Our Lowe’s holiday calendar shows the competing schedule if you want to compare first.
