Adjustable wrenches have always forced a compromise. A 6-inch wrench is compact enough for a tool belt or a PACKOUT drawer, but the jaws only open to about an inch, which rules out unions, coupling nuts, and a lot of HVAC hardware.
Milwaukee just broke that tradeoff with a new 6-inch Wide Jaw Adjustable Wrench, model 48-22-7506, that opens to a full 1-1/2 inches.
That jaw capacity matches wrenches a size class up. That opening comes from a straight wide-jaw design rather than a longer handle, so you keep the compact 6-inch form factor and still grab large fasteners in tight quarters. Think plumbing rough-ins, mini-split line sets, and mechanical work where a pipe wrench is overkill and an 8-inch wrench won’t fit.

Acme Tools has the 6-inch model listed, and Home Depot carries the related 8-inch wide jaw (48-22-7508, $29.97) as a store exclusive.
Milwaukee sells through Home Depot, Acme, and other pro dealers rather than Amazon first-party, so expect 3P listings there if it shows up at all.
Why It Matters
Wide jaw wrenches already existed in Milwaukee’s line: the 8-inch 48-22-7508 opens to 1-3/4 inches and the line runs up to a 15-inch model.
What’s new is the size. Until now, if you wanted more than an inch of jaw opening, you carried a bigger wrench.
A 1-1/2-inch opening in a 6-inch body means electricians and HVAC techs can leave the long wrenches on the truck.
It also stacks up well against the competition. Channellock’s 6-inch wide-adjustable opens to 1-5/16 inches. That’s 3/16 of an inch more opening in the same length.
Klein’s popular adjustable wrenches are conventional-jaw in this size range, opening around 15/16 inch.
One part worth watching is the adjustment screw. The same anti-backoff screw design has been on Milwaukee’s wrenches across its adjustable wrench line for years, and it’s the feature that separates them from cheaper wrenches that creep open mid-turn. ToolGuyd has tested the existing line and found them strong and comfortable, and this one carries the same hardware.
