Green Bosch tools are showing up on Lowe’s shelves in the US, and that’s a bigger deal than it sounds.
A reader spotted the display and sent photos to ToolGuyd. The lineup includes 4V cordless screwdrivers like the Bosch 4V Quick Select and the iXO, both wearing the green Home and Garden color scheme that has never been sold stateside.
Here’s the quick backstory. In the US, Bosch has always meant blue, pro-grade tools.
Overseas, the company runs a second consumer line under a green color scheme aimed at DIYers and homeowners. That green line has stayed in Europe and other markets for decades.
The last time Bosch tried anything like this in the US, it was under the Skil brand, which Bosch sold to Chervon back in 2016. Some similar 4V tools trickled in later under Dremel, but never under the Bosch name itself.
What’s in the display
- Bosch 4V Quick Select cordless screwdriver with onboard bit cassettes, USB-C charging, and an LED ring
- Bosch iXO cordless screwdriver, a model US buyers previously had to import from overseas sellers
- A small set of giftable 4V tools, reportedly about four SKUs in total
None of these tools share batteries with Bosch’s blue pro line. They’re built-in rechargeable designs, which is normal for the 4V category.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed for the Lowe’s display units yet, so check shelf tags or the Lowe’s listing before you plan a purchase around a number.
Why it matters
Two reasons to pay attention.
First, Lowe’s cleared out Skil earlier this year, and the store’s DIY cordless slots are currently held by Craftsman and Kobalt. A third brand would be a real shakeup.
Second, Bosch already announced a green-line push into North America with the EasyAquatak 120 pressure washer and UniversalImpact 18V drill at Lowe’s last fall.
This 4V display looks like the next phase, and if it sells, more green tools could follow.
It also raises an awkward question about Dremel, which Bosch owns. If green Bosch 4V screwdrivers sit on Lowe’s shelves, what happens to the Dremel-branded equivalents? Nobody has answered that yet.
What buyers should do
For now, this is a wait-and-see. If you need a small 4V screwdriver for cabinet hinges and outlet plates, the Quick Select is a genuinely good design, and competition at Lowe’s could push prices down across the category.
