SK Tools just put out a line of heavy duty scissors, and the price is the story: $15 to $18 a pair.
The lineup covers four sizes, from a 7-inch pocket pair up to 10-inch shop shears, all on Amazon right now.
Sizes and prices
- 7-inch and 8-inch, $14.99: CR-V steel, one-piece construction, induction-hardened edges. Classic utility-scissor layout.
- 9-inch and 10-inch, $17.99: different design with one-piece blades, built for bigger hands and heavier stock.
- 9-inch serrated shop shears, $15.99: a third variant with a scalloped curved blade. Less robust handles, but the serration grips slick material better.
SK shows them cutting leather, fabric, garden twigs, and sheet metal. I would treat the sheet-metal claim with some skepticism; these are shears, not tin snips, and compound-action snips exist for a reason.
For cord, strapping, shingles, packaging, and shop cleanup, the price makes them easy to throw in a tool bag.
Context
SK has been on a run of small hand tool launches lately, following a utility knife and other additions. Heavy duty scissors are a crowded category, and the pro brands mostly ignore it. Milwaukee and DeWalt do not sell a comparable scissor, so this is a spot where a value brand can take shelf space without fighting a platform ecosystem.
One caveat worth knowing: the tools are reportedly made by Hangzhou Great Star, and SK has not been clear about country of origin. At fifteen dollars nobody expects USA production, but it is worth knowing what the badge covers.
