Bosch has always been a power tool company. Drills, saws, nailers — and a pro reputation built over decades on the jobsite. Until now, the brand’s North American 18V lineup ignored the backyard entirely. That changes in 2026.
Bosch has launched a full outdoor power equipment line on its existing 18V AmpShare platform, putting the brand in direct competition with EGO, Ryobi, and Greenworks for the first time. If you already own Bosch 18V tools, your batteries run these. No new system required.
The New Lineup
Seven tools make up Bosch’s inaugural North American OPE lineup:
- GRT18V-40N String Trimmer — 16-inch cutting swath, 5,300 RPM brushless motor, proprietary anti-tangle system. Available now. Bare tool: ~$219. Kit with Expert 8Ah battery: ~$349.
- GKE18V-40 16-Inch Chainsaw — 41 ft/s chain speed, electronic motor brake, automatic chain oiler, kickback protection.
- GKE18V-25TP Pole Chainsaw — 10-inch bar, 25.2 ft/s chain speed, telescopes up to 10 feet.
- GKE18V-20 Pruning Saw — Compact and lightweight, 24 ft/s chain speed, automatic oiling.
- GHE18V-60 Hedge Trimmer — Bosch’s first standard 18V hedge trimmer for North America. 2,800 SPM, 3/4-inch cut capacity.
- Telescoping Pole Hedge Trimmer — Articulating head (-45° to 90°), extends to 8.2 feet for roughly 12 feet of total reach.
All tools run on any Bosch 18V battery. Bosch recommends pairing them with the new Expert batteries featuring tabless cell technology, which run cooler under sustained load. The 8Ah Expert battery is sold separately for around $130.
Why This Is a Big Deal
Bosch’s 18V system in North America has been pro-only for years — deliberately positioned away from the homeowner market. This launch is a direct reversal of that strategy.
The string trimmer alone signals the intent. At $219 bare, it sits above EGO’s entry-level offerings but below its premium models. Bosch is betting that tradesperson credibility — and the chance to run your yard on the same batteries as your jobsite gear — converts to sales.
It’s a crowded space. EGO, Ryobi, and Greenworks have years of OPE-specific development behind them. Bosch will need competitive runtime and reliability figures to win customers away from established platforms. Those numbers aren’t yet independently verified.

Where This Fits
If you’re already running Bosch 18V tools in the shop, this is the easiest way to extend your battery investment to yard work. If you’re building from scratch, Bosch is now in the conversation — but EGO still leads on raw power and runtime for demanding outdoor work.
