Bosch Enters Cordless Outdoor Power Equipment: 5 New 18V Tools Now Available

Bosch has officially entered the cordless outdoor power equipment market in the United States, launching five new 18V tools through the AmpShare cross-brand battery platform. That means existing Bosch 18V batteries — the same ones you might already use on drills, jigsaws, and sanders — now power a string trimmer, hedge trimmers, and chainsaw.

This is a significant move. Bosch has long dominated the 18V cordless hand tool market but left outdoor power equipment to EGO, DeWalt, and Makita. That changes this spring.

The New Bosch 18V OPE Lineup

Here’s everything Bosch announced, with availability and pricing where confirmed:

  • GRT18V-40N String Trimmer — 16-inch cutting swath, brushless motor, 5,300 RPM, anti-tangle system. Available now. Bare tool: $219. Kit with Expert 8.0Ah battery and charger (GRT18V-40N18X): $349.
  • GHE18V-60-2N Hedge Trimmer — 24-inch blade, 2,800 SPM, 3/4-inch cut capacity. Available now.
  • GHE18V-50TPN Pole Hedge Trimmer — 20-inch blade, telescopes to 8.2 feet, head pivots -45° to +90°, 3,400 SPM. Available now.
  • GKE18V-20N 8″ Pruning Saw — 8-inch bar, 23.6 ft/s chain speed, brushless. $199. Ships approximately April 14–21, 2026.
  • GKE18V-40N 16″ Chainsaw — 16-inch bar, 40.7 ft/s chain speed, dual-brake system, OptiCut bar technology. Arriving summer 2026.

All five tools run on standard Bosch 18V batteries via AmpShare — no separate outdoor battery pack required.

Why This Is a Big Deal

Battery compatibility is the whole game in cordless OPE right now. If you already own Bosch 18V CORE batteries, picking up the string trimmer for $219 bare is a compelling proposition. You’re not buying into a new ecosystem — you’re extending one you already own.

The string trimmer is the standout entry point. At $219, it competes directly with the best options in our 2026 cordless string trimmer roundup. The anti-tangle system is a practical feature that real-world users will notice immediately — especially in heavier grass and weeds.

The pole hedge trimmer with a pivoting head is the other tool worth watching. An 8.2-foot reach with -45° to +90° articulation handles most hedge shapes without a ladder, and 3,400 SPM puts it in serious trimmer territory. See how it compares in our Best Cordless Hedge Trimmers 2026 guide.

For the chainsaw, 40.7 ft/s chain speed on a 16-inch bar is competitive with battery-powered saws that cost considerably more. We’ll be watching for hands-on reviews once it ships this summer. In the meantime, our Best Cordless Chainsaws 2026 guide covers what to look for when comparing battery-powered options.

Timed With a Live Lowe’s Deal

The OPE launch comes as Lowe’s is running a Bosch battery promotion: buy a CORE18V 4.0Ah dual battery pack and get a free Bosch cordless tool valued up to $179 (options include a screw gun, compact vacuum, or LED work light). If you’ve been waiting to jump into the Bosch 18V system, this is an efficient entry point before adding an OPE tool.

This also builds on Bosch’s 2026 momentum — earlier this year, Bosch announced four new 18V hand tools including a pin nailer, ratchet, right-angle drill, and recip saw. The OPE lineup extends that expansion across the full platform.
