How We Make Money (The Honest Version)

Power Tool Insider is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

What this means in plain English: When you click a link to Amazon on our site and buy something, we get a small commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra — Amazon pays us from their end.

Does This Affect Our Reviews?

No. Here’s why:

  • We make the same commission regardless of which tool you buy. If we recommend a $99 Ryobi over a $300 Milwaukee, we actually make less money. But we do it anyway when it’s the right call for DIYers.
  • Our reputation matters more than any single sale. If we recommend garbage, you won’t come back. Recommending the right tool builds trust — which is worth way more long-term.
  • We disclose everything. You’re reading this page, right? We’re not hiding anything.

How We Choose What to Recommend

Our recommendations are based on:

  1. Hands-on testing and real-world use
  2. Analysis of thousands of user reviews
  3. Long-term reliability data
  4. Value for DIYers specifically (not pros with unlimited budgets)

We do not accept payment to recommend products. If a tool sucks, we’ll tell you — even if it means losing a sale.

FTC Compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising,” we disclose that we have affiliate relationships and may be compensated if you make a purchase through links on this site.
