About

No Bylines. That’s the Point.

Power Tools Insider is written by a small group of current and former power tool industry people. Product development, marketing, sales, distribution. We’ve sat in the meetings where tools get positioned and priced. We know what the spec sheets say and what they leave out.

You won’t find our names on this site, and that’s deliberate. A bylined reviewer has relationships to manage: review units to keep receiving, PR contacts to stay friendly with, a personal brand that brands can lean on. We have none of that. Nobody can pressure a name they don’t know. So if a $99 Ryobi beats a $300 Milwaukee for your job, we say it plainly.

What We Actually Do

Here’s the honest version of our process, in full on our How We Review page:

  • Spec verification. Every torque number, RPM range, and battery rating gets checked against manufacturer data. If we can’t verify a number, we tell you to check the manufacturer’s specs.
  • Owner review analysis. We aggregate thousands of verified-buyer reviews per category to find the failure patterns and long-term gripes a week of testing would never surface.
  • Daily price tracking. Automated price pulls from Amazon’s product data API, every day, so the prices you see are current.
  • Retailer research. Milwaukee and Ryobi are Home Depot exclusives, Kobalt belongs to Lowe’s. We send you to the right store, not to gray-market third-party sellers.

What we don’t do: run a testing lab. We don’t hand-test every tool we cover, and we won’t claim otherwise. Plenty of sites do. Our edge is industry knowledge plus more aggregated owner data than any single reviewer can generate in a workshop.

How We Make Money

Affiliate commissions. When you buy through our links, the retailer pays us a small cut at no extra cost to you. The commission is the same whether you buy the budget pick or the premium one, so there’s no incentive to upsell you. Full details in our affiliate disclosure.
