Bosch Enters Electrical Testing: 6 New Tools at $199

Bosch is breaking into a category it has never really owned: electrical test gear. The brand just announced six new tools aimed at electricians, HVAC techs, and facility maintenance crews, with prices ranging from a $35 non-contact voltage detector up to a $199 True RMS digital multimeter. All six are listed at Acme Tools with a “later in 2026” launch window.

For pros, this is the first time Bosch is putting its full brand weight behind a coherent testing lineup. Until now, the most recognizable name in the trade for clamps and meters has been Fluke, with Klein and Southwire filling out the mid-tier. Bosch’s pricing here undercuts Fluke on the clamp meter and multimeter categories by a wide margin, while its GVD1000-17 voltage detector is genuinely IP67 rated with 6-foot drop protection, which is rare at the $45 price point.

How It Stacks Up Against Fluke and Klein

The most direct comparison is the new Bosch GDM600-15 multimeter at $199 against the Fluke 115, which currently runs around $230-260 street price. The Bosch matches the Fluke on True RMS and CAT III 600V, and adds an IP65 dust/water rating plus 6-foot drop protection, which the Fluke 115 lacks. Where the Fluke still wins is brand trust in the trade, longer warranty, and a deeper installed base of accessories and leads. For a journeyman buying a backup meter, the GDM600-15 looks like a real value. For a primary workhorse, Fluke still has the edge on longevity.

The clamp meter is the more interesting story. The GMC600-15 at $160 comes with MS90 silicone test leads, runs on AA batteries (with an optional 3.7V lithium-ion pack), and reads 600A AC. The closest Klein comparison is the CL220 at around $130, but the Klein tops out at 400A and lacks the IP54 rating. On raw specs, the Bosch clamp is the better deal.

Where Bosch Fits in the Trade Stack

Bosch’s bet here is that electrical contractors who already run the Bosch 18V AMPShare battery platform want a one-vendor solution for tools and now test gear. The multimeter and clamp meter both have a slot for an optional 3.7V rechargeable pack, which would share the same USB-C charging ecosystem pros are already buying into. That ecosystem angle matters more than the individual specs. If a crew is buying AMPShare batteries for drills and impacts, the new Bosch testing gear has zero learning curve on the power side.

The two voltage testers (GVD1000-15 and GVD1000-17) are the lowest-risk entry. At $35 and $45 they are disposable enough to leave in a truck or on a tool belt without much thought, and the $10 step up to the IP67 flashlight-equipped version is a genuine upgrade for field use.

When and Where to Buy

Bosch has not pinned a specific launch date, only “later in 2026.” All six products are already listed at Acme Tools and likely other authorized Bosch distributors ahead of stock. The full Amazon rollout for the line typically follows Bosch’s standard 4-8 week distributor-to-Amazon lag. If you are already stocked up on multimeters, this is a watch-and-wait story. If you have a newer apprentice or are replacing aging test gear, the GDM600-15 multimeter and GMC600-15 clamp meter are the two to plan around.
