DeWalt Refreshes Its Oscillating Multi-Tool Lineup: New DCS358 and DCS359 Land With Universal OIS Mount

DeWalt is refreshing its entire oscillating multi-tool lineup for 2026 with two new models: the DCS358 and the DCS359. Both are 20V MAX brushless tools that replace the existing Atomic DCS354 and XR DCS356 respectively — and the headline upgrade is a universal OIS quick-release mount that accepts blades from any major brand without adapters.

Two Tiers, One New Mount System

DeWalt is keeping its two-tier structure: an entry-level tool and an XR step-up.

  • DCS358 — Entry level. Single speed range with variable speed trigger. Compact one-piece housing. Designed for occasional use and DIY applications. Replaces the DCS354.
  • DCS359 (XR) — Four discrete speed settings plus variable speed trigger. Two-piece housing where the gray head section is physically separate from the yellow body — the purpose is vibration isolation, so less of the oscillating action transfers into the grip during long use sessions. Universal OIS mount standard. Replaces the DCS356.

Both tools carry DeWalt’s Perform+Protect branding, which signals anti-vibration engineering across the lineup.

Why the OIS Mount Matters

The universal OIS (Oscillating Interface System) mount is an industry standard shared by Milwaukee, Bosch, Fein, and others. DeWalt’s previous models used a proprietary mount that required an adapter for universal blades — a minor friction point that the new models eliminate entirely. You can now grab any quality third-party blade and run it without reaching for an adapter kit first.

This also means your existing oscillating blade collection — carbide grout blades, bi-metal wood/nail blades, flush-cut blades — plugs straight into either new model.

20V MAX Battery Compatibility

Both tools are fully compatible with the entire DeWalt 20V MAX battery ecosystem. If you’re already running DeWalt drills, circular saws, or other 20V tools, no new batteries required. The DCS359 in particular benefits from higher-capacity packs (5Ah or 6Ah) for extended cutting sessions.

Where They Fit in Your Shop

Oscillating multi-tools are the tool you reach for when nothing else fits the job: undercutting door casings for flooring installation, flush-cutting nails flush to framing, cutting out drywall patches, scraping adhesive, or detail sanding in corners. The DCS358 handles all of that at a lower price point; the DCS359 is the upgrade for users who do this work daily and want better vibration control and finer speed tuning.

Pricing and Availability

DeWalt has not officially confirmed retail pricing or a firm ship date as of late April 2026. First looks surfaced in late March 2026 from industry media. Based on DeWalt’s typical pricing, expect the DCS358 bare tool around $119–$139 and the DCS359 XR bare tool around $169–$199 — but confirm at point of purchase. Check DeWalt.com and Amazon for availability. DeWalt also had several new releases this month — see our full DeWalt April 2026 new tools roundup for the complete picture.
