EGO Expands Z6 Cordless Riding Mowers for 2026: E-STEER Steering Wheel, 27HP, and 52-Inch Deck

EGO Power+ has updated its Z6 cordless zero-turn riding mower lineup for 2026, expanding model options, improving the display system, and introducing the e-STEER steering wheel option for homeowners who find traditional lap-bar zero-turn controls intimidating. Lawn season is starting — here’s where the EGO Z6 stands.

The 2026 EGO Z6 Lineup

Three main configurations for 2026:

  • 42-inch lap bar (ZT4214L): Classic zero-turn controls. Delivers up to 27 HP equivalent via EGO’s Peak Power technology, combining four 56V 12.0Ah ARC Lithium batteries. Cuts up to 2.5 acres per charge at speeds up to 8 MPH.
  • 42-inch e-STEER (ZT4205S): Same 42-inch cutting deck, but with a steering wheel instead of lap bars. EGO calls this the industry’s first steering wheel on a cordless zero-turn. Advanced electronics translate steering inputs to zero-turn movement — more accessible for operators used to conventional riding tractors. 22 HP equivalent with four 12.0Ah batteries. Around $3,999 at time of writing.
  • 52-inch (ZT5207L): The large-property option. Five independent brushless motors, 25 HP equivalent, six 12.0Ah batteries for up to 4 acres per charge. Available on Amazon for around $6,500 at time of writing (check current pricing).

What’s New in the 2026 Models

The 2026 Z6 update brings a redesigned color LCD display showing real-time battery status, drive mode, and operating data — a meaningful improvement over the earlier generation’s basic readout. EGO also widened the wheel track by 80mm across the lineup, which improves stability on slopes and uneven terrain. Hydraulic seat suspension is standard on select models, and three drive modes (Control, Standard, Sport) carry over from the previous generation.

Battery Platform Compatibility

The Z6 runs EGO’s 56V ARC Lithium platform — the same batteries that power EGO’s handheld tools. You can pull the 12.0Ah packs from the mower and use them in an EGO string trimmer, chainsaw, or blower. EGO’s fastest charger fully charges six 12.0Ah packs in about four hours.

This cross-platform compatibility is EGO’s strongest selling point for homeowners already in the 56V ecosystem. Buying a Z6 doesn’t mean maintaining a separate battery standard.

How This Compares

Gas zero-turn riders in the 42-inch range typically run $2,500–$4,500 from brands like Husqvarna and Cub Cadet. The EGO Z6 pricing is at or above that range — you pay a premium for zero emissions, lower noise, and no fuel or maintenance. For properties under 2.5 acres where you’re mowing weekly, the running cost calculus increasingly favors battery.

The e-STEER model is the most interesting development. Zero-turn lap bars have a learning curve that causes some homeowners to either avoid ZTRs entirely or make early mistakes on lawns. A steering wheel removes that barrier while keeping the speed advantage of zero-turn radius maneuvering.
