Power Tools Insider

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 16, 2026

Power Tools Insider (“we,” “us,” “our”) runs powertoolsinsider.com. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We’ve tried to write it the way we write everything else here — plain English, no fluff.

The short version

  • We don’t sell your personal information. Ever.
  • We use analytics to see which articles are useful — not to track you personally.
  • If you sign up for deal alerts, we email you deals. You can unsubscribe in one click.
  • When you click an affiliate link and buy something, the retailer tells us a sale happened — not who you are.

Information we collect

Analytics data

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which content people find helpful. This collects standard, mostly-anonymized data: pages visited, approximate location (city/region, derived from IP — we do not store full IP addresses), device and browser type, how you arrived at the site, and how long you stayed. We use this in aggregate to decide what to write next and to fix pages that aren’t working well. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.

Email newsletter

If you sign up for our deal alerts, we collect your email address. Signup uses double opt-in (you confirm via a link we email you), so we never add anyone who didn’t ask. We use Resend to send these emails and to record whether messages were delivered, opened, or clicked so we can improve what we send. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom, which removes your address from our list immediately.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure traffic (described above).
  • Affiliate attribution cookies — set by retailers (Amazon, etc.) when you click an outbound product link, so they can credit the referral. These are controlled by the retailer, not by us.
  • Language preference — if you view the site in another language, we store your choice so the site remembers it.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some preferences won’t be remembered.

Affiliate links and advertising

Power Tools Insider is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may participate in other retailer affiliate programs (such as Home Depot and Lowe’s). When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer handles the transaction and the payment data — we never see your credit card or purchase details. We only receive aggregate commission reports. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full breakdown of how this works and why it doesn’t bias our reviews.

Third-party services

We rely on a few reputable third parties, each with its own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics — traffic measurement (privacy policy)
  • Resend — newsletter delivery (privacy policy)
  • Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s — affiliate programs; their cookies and policies govern their own tracking

When you leave our site via an outbound link, that destination’s privacy policy applies — not ours.

How we use your information

  • To improve our content and fix broken or underperforming pages
  • To send deal alerts and newsletter content you opted into
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is performing
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings. Newsletter subscriber data is kept until you unsubscribe, after which your address is removed from our active list.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of marketing. For the newsletter, the unsubscribe link handles opt-out instantly. For anything else — access, correction, or deletion requests — contact us using the details below and we’ll respond promptly.

Children’s privacy

This site is intended for adults researching power tool purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will also be communicated by email.
