Milwaukee Tool just expanded its hand tool lineup with six new striking tools built around a dual-technology handle system. The new products are available now at Home Depot and through Milwaukee’s authorized dealers — starting at $29.99 and topping out at $119.98.
What’s New
The lineup introduces two proprietary technologies that Milwaukee is branding across the entire range:
- SECURESTRIKE — a riveted head connection system designed to resist loosening under heavy use
- SHOCKSHIELD — a steel-reinforced fiberglass handle that absorbs vibration and reduces fatigue over a long shift
Both are built into every tool in the new lineup, differentiating these from the basic fiberglass-handle options most tradespeople are used to grabbing off a hardware store rack.
The Six New Tools
| Tool | Weight | Handle | MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8-lb Sledge Hammer | 11.6 lbs total | 36″ | $99.98 |
| 10-lb Sledge Hammer | 13.6 lbs total | 36″ | $114.98 |
| 5-lb Pick Mattock | — | 36″ | $99.98 |
| 8-lb Splitting Maul | — | 36″ | $119.98 |
| 36″ Splitting Axe | — | 36″ | $119.98 |
| 5-lb Splitting Wedge | — | 18″ | $29.99 |
The sledgehammers feature forged steel heads with tapered geometry and an integrated lanyard hole — a detail that contractors working at height will appreciate. The splitting maul adds an anti-stick coating to the head and a flat striking surface on the reverse for use with the splitting wedge. The splitting axe ships with a protective sheath and a stainless steel overstrike cap, while the splitting wedge features a precision-beveled edge and wide wings for wood separation.
Who Should Care
These aren’t for the casual weekend DIYer. Milwaukee is clearly targeting the same pros already carrying M18 drills and PACKOUT storage — people who want all their tools from one system and are willing to pay a premium for quality construction. At $99–$119 for a sledgehammer, you’re paying roughly two to three times what a no-name fiberglass option costs. The question is whether SHOCKSHIELD handle technology actually makes a measurable difference in a full day of demo work. Based on Milwaukee’s track record with vibration-dampened dead blow hammers, the ergonomics argument is credible.
The splitting wedge at $29.99 is the easiest entry point and one most firewood-splitting setups could use alongside the maul.
Where to Buy
Milwaukee is a Home Depot exclusive in the United States. All six tools are available now at Home Depot locations and through milwaukeetool.com. No Milwaukee products are available through Amazon as new, first-party items — check our Milwaukee vs. DeWalt brand breakdown for more on why that matters when buying.
