Milwaukee just added three new sizes to the PACKOUT lineup — and they’re hitting Home Depot this month. If you’ve ever wished the standard open crate was a little smaller, a little shorter, or a lot bigger, the wait is over.
Three New Crates, Three Different Jobs
Milwaukee is launching the PACKOUT Compact Crate (48-22-8437), PACKOUT Low-Profile Crate (48-22-8438), and PACKOUT XL Crate (48-22-8439) in April 2026. All three stack and interlock with every existing PACKOUT component — toolboxes, organizers, rolling carts, the works.
- Compact Crate (48-22-8437): 30 lb capacity. Wide front opening lets you grab tools without lifting the whole crate off the stack. Includes score-line dividers you can cut to fit. Good for hand tools, electrical components, or fittings you reach for constantly.
- Low-Profile Crate (48-22-8438): 50 lb capacity. Shorter height than the original crate — designed for shop drawers, truck beds, or vans where vertical clearance is tight. Ships with quick-adjust dividers.
- XL Crate (48-22-8439): 75 lb capacity — more than double the compact. Built for power tools, pipe, or anything too big to fit in the original 50 lb crate. Same PACKOUT interface on the bottom and sides for attaching organizers.
How They Fit Into the PACKOUT Ecosystem
The original PACKOUT Crate (48-22-8440) has been a staple since it launched — open top, 50 lb capacity, works on any PACKOUT stack. These three additions give you options at both ends of the size spectrum, plus a lower-profile version for space-constrained setups.
Milwaukee also has separate PACKOUT Divider accessories (sold separately) that fit the new crates, making organization customizable without buying a new organizer. The divider for the compact and low-profile models is expected by April; the XL divider is slated for June 2026.
All three are Milwaukee tool crates, which means they’re Home Depot exclusives. Pricing hasn’t been officially announced, but the existing standard crate runs around $40, so expect these to land in the $35–$55 range depending on size.
Bottom Line
If you’re already in the PACKOUT ecosystem, these fill real gaps. The compact is the grab-and-go option the system has been missing. The low-profile solves the van shelf problem. The XL handles the stuff that always ends up on the floor because nothing else fits.
Check your local Home Depot or visit Milwaukee’s site for availability — these are expected to start appearing on shelves this month.
