Milwaukee just shipped a tool that doesn’t get the same headlines as a new impact driver — but any tradesperson who’s ever swept metal shavings off a concrete floor with their boot will understand the appeal immediately. The M18 Brushless Handheld Vacuum (0892-20) is now available at Home Depot, bringing brushless motor performance and HEPA filtration to a form factor that runs off any M18 battery you already own.
Why Brushless Matters in a Handheld Vacuum
Previous cordless handheld vacuums — including earlier Milwaukee models — used brushed motors, which lose suction as battery voltage drops. The 0892-20 switches to brushless, delivering consistent airflow throughout the charge. The specs: 40 CFM airflow and 63 inches of water lift, with over 20 minutes of runtime using an M18 XC 5.0Ah battery. That’s enough for continuous cleanup between cuts, or clearing a cabinet run before finish installation.
An integrated debris separator keeps the HEPA filter from clogging — a practical fix for anyone who’s done fine drywall dust or wood flour cleanup. When the filter loads up and suction drops, that’s usually the job-site nuisance that kills productivity. The separator addresses that before it starts.
What’s in the Box
- Brushless handheld vacuum body (0892-20, tool only)
- 4-foot flexible hose
- Two extension wands
- Crevice tool
- Pivoting floor tool
- LED ring light — built into the nozzle for dark corners and tight spaces
The 1-1/4″ accessory port is standard diameter, so existing vacuum attachments may be compatible — check manufacturer fit specs before assuming.
The Platform Play
The real pitch here is battery consolidation. If your crew is already on M18 — drills, saws, lights, the whole ecosystem — the 0892-20 is one more tool that doesn’t need its own charging slot. At $179 bare tool, it’s a reasonable investment for a tool that earns its place at every finish-work stage: pre-paint cleanup, cabinetry, electrical rough-in, HVAC installs.
For extended cleanup sessions — post-demo, heavy sawdust — the M18 FUEL Compact Vacuum (0940-20) remains the more capable option. The 0892-20 is designed for on-the-spot cleanup, not shop vac duty.
Available now at Home Depot.
