Milwaukee Tool has announced a new addition to its AX SAWZALL blade family: the AX with NITRUS Carbide for Wood with Nails & Screws. The blades are built specifically for demolition and remodeling work — cutting through framing lumber loaded with embedded nails, screws, and roofing fasteners without trashing the blade by the second row.
The Problem They’re Solving
Standard carbide recip blades are fine until you hit a fastener. One unexpected framing nail and you’re burning through teeth — or swapping blades mid-wall. Milwaukee’s answer is NAILGUARD technology, which redesigns the tooth geometry to deflect and cut through fasteners rather than impact them directly. The result, Milwaukee claims, is up to 2x longer blade life versus standard carbide blades in wood-with-nails applications.
The FANG TIP design at the blade’s leading edge is optimized for fast plunge cuts into nail-embedded wood — useful for making rough openings, demo access points, and pry-start cuts where you’d otherwise need to predrill or work the blade in carefully.
Specs and SKUs
The AX NITRUS blades come in three lengths with single, 3-pack, and 5-pack options. All use a 5 TPI (teeth per inch) design — aggressive enough for fast cuts through dimensional lumber while still giving the tooth geometry room to work around fasteners.
| Length | Single | 3-Pack | 5-Pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6-inch | 48-00-7251 (~$13.97) | 48-00-7351 | 48-00-7551 |
| 9-inch | 48-00-7252 (~$17.97) | 48-00-7352 | 48-00-7552 |
| 12-inch | 48-00-7253 (~$19.97) | 48-00-7353 | 48-00-7553 |
Pricing ranges from approximately $13.97 for a single 6-inch blade to around $92.97 for a 12-inch 5-pack (check manufacturer specs for confirmed pricing at launch).
Availability
Milwaukee has announced the AX NITRUS blades will begin shipping in April 2026 for select SKUs, with the full range available by July 2026. Since Milwaukee is exclusive to Home Depot in the U.S., expect to find these at Home Depot stores and at milwaukeetool.com when they launch.
Where This Fits in Milwaukee’s Lineup
The AX line has long been Milwaukee’s workhorse blade for demo-heavy applications — if you’ve run AX carbide blades before, the NITRUS version is a direct upgrade for any job involving old-growth lumber, pallet wood, or roof tear-offs with embedded roofing nails. The NAILGUARD and FANG TIP features are incremental rather than revolutionary, but for contractors buying blades by the box, a 2x life claim translates directly to fewer blade changes and lower job costs.
