Overview

The DeWalt DCKK655X 18-Volt XRP six tool combo set comes with a variety of useful power tools that purchased on their own would cost a lot more to acquire. The set comes with a drill/hammerdrill, an impact driver, a circular saw, a reciprocating saw, a cutoff tool, as well as a flexible floodlight. All of the tools are powered by DeWalt’s heavy duty 18-Volt XRP batteries, which come with a charger. A heavy duty bag is also provided. Although the set is powered by older technology NiCad batteries, it will accept newer Lithium Ion 18V batteries. Let’s take a look at the set in detail.

Features

DeWalt DCD950 XRP Cordless Hammerdrill

The DeWalt DCD950 XRP 18-volt cordless hammerdrill is a rugged unit suitable for the toughest of jobs. The DCD950 replaces the DeWalt DC925 model that was previously packaged with the set, and is an overall upgraded drill. It features a patented 3-speed all-metal transmission that delivers up to 450 UWO (Unit Watts Out). The drill also features a reversible handle that can be used for tougher drilling / driving jobs. It comes in very handy when using the hammerdrill option and drilling into brick or concrete. The ½” chuck is suitable for handling most drill bits, and is probably one of the most common sizes that most drills have. An upgrade of the DCD950 over the DC925 is that this unit comes with an LED light for illuminating the work area. The light does come in handy when working in darker, confined spaces.

DeWalt DC390 XRP Circular Saw

The DeWalt DC390 XRP 18-volt circular saw can accommodate a 6-1/2-inch blade. The included It can easily cut a 2×4 in a single pass, and the blade can be set to a 45 degree bevel. While the circular saw is good for cutting 2×4’s don’t expect it to replace a good corded saw. The major benefit of this unit is that because it is battery powered it’s portable and can be taken to places where running a power cord could be an issue. Your roof can be a good example of this. The blade on the unit is also smaller than the traditional 7 1/4 inch blade. With the XRP 18 volt battery you will be able to make about 20 to 25 2×4 cuts, before the unit will drain the battery.

DeWalt DC385 XRP Reciprocating Saw

The DeWalt DC385 XRP 18-volt cordless reciprocating saw again and will allow tool portability. It comes with keyless blade clamp allows for quick blade changes. As with most modern reciprocating saws you can set the blade in 4 various positions. The unit is nearly identical to its corded cousin, but again will feature a lower run time needing frequent battery changes especially when doing tough demolition jobs requiring deep or tough cuts.

DeWalt DC825 XRP Impact Driver

The DeWalt DC825 is one of the best impact drivers in its class out there. Coupled with an 18 volt XRP battery the unit will offer a long run time for average construction jobs. The DC825 18-volt impact driver had a rated 1,330 inch-pounds of maximum torque. This is nearly three times the amount of torque that the drill has.

DeWalt DC411 XRP Cut-Off Tool

The DeWalt DC411 18-volt cut-off tool with a maximum speed of 6,500 rpm provides high power for cutting and grinding applications.

DeWalt DW919 XRP Flexible Floodlight

The DW919 18V flexible floodlight provides hands-free flashlight use. The floodlight included in this set is not LED, so the bulb has a limited lifespan and will need replacing often. Out of all the tools included in the set, the DW919 Flexible Floodlight is probably the weakest link. Our floodlight failed after about three years of use.
